I am human

I am human.

I am beauty in my imperfection.

And you stare at me

And want me to be like you.

I am fire.

I lust and desire in my imperfection.

And you stare at me and you want me to be still.

I don’t want to live in a society of mediocrity

Where we must justify our oddities.

I’d rather go into the woods.

I’m outspoken.

I’m cracked but not broken

In my imperfection.

And you stare at me and you wonder how I can be fixed.

I like to yell and dream

And paint trees purple not green.

I really don’t respond to machines.

I’d rather go into the woods.

I’m sheer madness.

I am sadness in my imperfection.

And you stare at me

And you want me to be numb.

I won’t live in your box.

Chain my feelings with locks.

I’d rather slip on the rocks

And go deep into the woods.

I’m pure absurdity.

I react passionately to my imperfection.

And you stare at me and you want me to fit in.

And it hurts me so as you walk away

Not saying what you want to say.

You are careful. You are closed.

You do not want me to know

That you are human.

You are beauty in your imperfection.

And I stare at you and feel you

Fleeing from your cage.

We are human.

We are human.

We are human.

Touch. And be touched.
